Your teachers learn too! »

Our school is closed to pupils today because the staff have a training day. They have spent the day learning some new creative techniques for making characters. Look at the characters they have made!

Liz Million »

We have been very lucky to have the author and illustrator Liz Million visiting our school today.  We were very impressed with her excellent artistic skills!

During the morning session, Amy helped Liz to draw Golidlocks and the Three Bears.  In the afternoon, Roxana helped Liz to draw Little Red Riding Hood.

You can visit her website at http://www.lizmillion.com/

World Book Day and St Oswald's Book Week! »

St Oswald’s are pleased to announce that we will be extending our World Book Day celebrations for a whole week!

World Book Day is today (Thursday 7th March).  Children (and staff!) were encouraged to come to school dressed as a literary character. On 7th and 8th March each class will take part in a range of book and story based activities.

On Wednesday 13th March we will have an author-illustrator visiting our school.  She is called Liz Million and you can see her website by clicking here.

From Monday 11th March to Thursday 14th March we will be holding an exciting book fair after school. Parents and children are invited to come to the fair to browse and purchase books from the great selection.  See the Book Fair leaflet by clicking here.

See our school book fair flyer by clicking here.

Walk Once a Week (WOW!) »

Strider came to our school today.  He visited the children in breakfast club first of all.  Then he went into the playground to greet the children and parents as they arrived for school.  Strider and his friend gave out special badges to the children who had walked to school today.

Remember that you can earn a badge every month by walking to school at least once a week.  In Classes 1, 2 and 3 the classroom staff will ask childern how they have travelled.  In nursery, parents are asked to tell a  member of staff on arrival at nursery if they have walked that day.

Please note that travelling ‘actively’ also counts!  This means cycling or scooting.  It also qualifies if you park away from the school (outside our school permit zones) and walk the rest of the way.

For more information please read this letter and visit this website – http://www.livingstreets.org.uk/walk-with-us/walk-to-school

Julia Donaldson replied! »

Last year the Year 2 children carried out several weeks work all about Julia Donaldson and her books. At the end of the project they wrote to Julia Donaldson to tell her how much they enjoyed her books. They also asked her some questions that they’d been wondering about as they were learning about her.
Over the summer holidays the school got a reply from Julia Donaldson on a lovely post card.
