Foundation Governors
Ms S. Pitts (Chair)
I was appointed as a Foundation Governor in 2009. Before that, I was appointed by Durham City Council. I have been Chair of Governors for many years and have helped the school through the appointment of three heads, several OFSTEDs and SIAMs, the threat of closure, the change of status to an Aided School and the change to an all-through Primary School. I am a member of the Finance and Premises Committee, the Curriculum and Standards Committee, Admissions and Publications Committee, the Personnel Committee and the Head’s Performance Management Group. This last is the only one I chair.  I am a regular member of St Oswald’s congregation and sit on the Parochial Church Council, the Deanery and the Diocesan Synods. I have served St Oswald’s church for a total of twelve years as Churchwarden.  In a former life, I taught at New College Durham, now I own and manage some houses let to students.  I confirm that I have no financial interests or relationships which could cause any conflict of interest with my role as school governor.

Mrs A. Robley

Rev. Peter Kashouris
I am a Governor at Shincliffe School and Durham High School for Girls as well as St Oswald’s School. Mrs S. Henniker-Major
I am a retired primary school teacher and have mostly worked in church schools. I am currently National President of Cursillo, an Anglican movement for renewal. I help in school one morning a week and help lead assemblies once a fortnight. I attend St Oswald’s church and am on the PCC there as well as having other roles there. I have a special interest in the RE in school. I can confirm that I do not have any relevant business interests including other Governor positions and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives. There are no other conflicts of interest.

Dr M. Clarke
I am a Lecturer in Music at The Open University. I have served as a Foundation Governor at St Oswald’s since the summer of 2015. I am active in the local community as a church organist and piano teacher.  I can confirm that I do not have any relevant business interests including other Governor positions and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives. There are no other conflicts of interest.

Dr C. Thompson
I am a registered medical practitioner and psychiatrist and have worked for the local NHS Mental Health Foundation Trust and its predecessors for over 20 years. I became a Foundation Governor at St Oswald’s in the summer of 2016. I am a member of St Oswald’s PCC and play an active part in the life of the church.  I can confirm that I do not have any relevant business interests including other Governor positions and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives. Mrs G. McGuire
I was appointed a Foundation Governor in June 2016.  I am a retired senior lecturer in Midwifery at the University of Huddersfield, and previously I was a community midwife in West Yorkshire working with Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslim women and families. I am an active member and regular attender at St Oswald’s Church and am a member of the PCC. I can confirm that I do not have any relevant business interests including other Governor positions and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives. There are no other conflicts of interests.

Mr J. Knight
I am a consulting engineer with Ove Arup & Partners in Newcastle, having returned from working in Africa in 2015. I attended St. Oswald’s School as a child in the 1970’s and have strong family links with both the school and St. Oswald’s Church. My son now attends the school. I can confirm that I do not have any relevant business interests including other Governor positions and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives. There are no other conflicts of interest.

Parent Governors
Mr B. Westwood
I am a Parent Governor and all three of my children attended St. Oswald’s Primary and Nursery School, in the nursery, Year 4 and Year 6 (2017-18). I am currently employed by the Portable Antiquities Scheme (British Museum) as the Finds Liaison Officer for Co. Durham, Darlington and Teesside, and previously worked as an archaeologist for Durham University Archaeological Services. As such I have a particular interest in the teaching of history and the humanities, and in my role as governor I am currently a member of the Curriculum and Standards Committee. I have been an active member of the Friends of St Oswald’s for many years, and formerly held the position of chair. I can confirm that I do not have any relevant business interests including other Governor positions and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives. Dr M. Armellini
I’m a parent Governor, and I have two sons attending St Oswald’s school. My current job is to represent the Bank of England in the North East. I’m also a mentor at Van Mildert College, Durham University. In fact, the University is the reason why I came to Durham from my native Uruguay over 12 years ago.  I can confirm that I do not have any other relevant business interests including other Governor positions and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives. There are no other conflicts of interest.

Miss S. Rycroft (HLTA)
I am a HLTA at St Oswald’s School and I am a staff member of the Governing Body. Outside of school I am an officer at The Church Lads’ and Church Girls’ Brigade; currently Commanding Officer of a CLCGB company which I opened in January 2016, attend another company as a section leader along with being Durham Regiments Sports Officer. The CLCGB is The Anglican Churches own uniformed youth organisation: welcoming children and young people of all faiths and none. I can confirm that I do not have any other relevant business interests including other Governor positions and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives. Mrs D. Wilson-Smith (Deputy Head Teacher)

Mr A. Jordan
I was a Parent Governor until October 2017 and both of my sons currently attend St. Oswald’s Primary School.  I am currently a Deputy Principal in a large standalone academy in Middlesbrough. I qualified as a history teacher in 1998 and have worked in schools continuously since then. I am passionate about providing excellent opportunities for all young people in education so that they can flourish and fulfil their potential.  I can confirm that I do not have any relevant business interests including other Governor positions (although I often present to my governing body in Middlesbrough in my role as Deputy Principal) and that I do not have any relationships with members of the school staff including spouses, partners, relatives.
